Troll Cap

I get several spam comments each day. You never see them because they go into a moderatation queue and are blacklisted upon review. Yesterday I received my first ever troll comment and decided to cap it instead of deleting it (as did Ben). The plugin is still an alpha release. Installation also requires manual editing of your SQL database.

Wow! That is really neat. I’ll have to look into that later when I am at home.

So, that was a troll and not spam - as in, there’s a difference? Was that website address he gave bogus?

“In Internet terminology, a troll is a person who posts rude or offensive messages on the Internet, such as in online discussion forums, to disrupt discussion or to upset its participants. “Troll” can also mean the message itself or be a verb meaning to post such messages. “Trolling” is also commonly used to describe the activity. For more discussion on definitions, see” the full Wikipedia definition.

This is what that guy’s talking about. My dad told me about it a while ago:

Chris, I’m not so sure it’s about Auburn Avenue or New Perspectives on Paul, although some of that is mentioned at the very end of the website by someone else. What it starts off talking about are accusations of adultery and contumacy going as far back as 1988. I got the initial impression that it stemmed from sin and church discipline, but I have not had a chance to thoroughly read through it (as it is quite zealous and jumbled and we do not know all the history or facts).

It is important to note that in spite of the gossip and slander on that website, that there are real feelings of deep hurt that should be acknowledged and respected (regardless of how they came about). That is, we recognize it with the confidence of faith that even a zealot bent on the destruction of the church–like Paul on the road to Damascus–is not beyond the reach of God’s redeeming grace in Jesus Christ.

Oh, OK. I googled those guys’ names and saw auburn avenue come up once.

What gets me though after thinking about stuff like this for a while is how young the PCA is. It is exactly as old as I am, almost to the day.

Well, OK, so my bday is off from the PCA’s by about 4 months…a little off.
