I Made 9rules!

I was mistakenly a day late when I posted an aside about Round 5 earlier. 9rules began announcing acceptances to their network today! And guess what? Transformatum is on the list!!! I was just about to head into a meeting at work when I found out (I’m still here BTW). It was all I could do to constrain myself from blabbing about such a blogging honor in front of people who probably do not care or even know the first thing about it.

Right now I feel excited and honored, but at the same time humbled by the responsibility. I confess that off and on over the last several months there have been times when I have debated ditching this blog. Am I spending too much time on it? Are people reading it? Is it having any impact? Is it all worth it? Being asked to be part of 9rules helps to answer some of those questions. However, it does also add to the responsibility and increase expectations.

If you have never heard of 9rules, then first check out their About page. In short, “9rules is a community of the best weblogs in the world on a variety of topics.” The network’s name comes from the following “set of 9rules for living.”

  1. Love what you do.
  2. Never stop learning.
  3. Form works with function.
  4. Simple is beautiful.
  5. Work hard, play hard.
  6. You get what you pay for.
  7. When you talk, we listen.
  8. Must constantly improve.
  9. Respect your inspiration.

Look for more information later tonight or over the coming days (must head home and rescue my wife from the kids). Thanks to Scrivs, Mike and Tyme for choosing me. It is an honor to be put alongside so many great bloggers!

Congratulations. It looks like quite the honor. And it looks like you are in some very good company. I should look into some of the other blogs on that list. Congratulations!

Ohhhh… we’re in for it now. You’ve been tagged as worthy AND you’re an elder… we’re forever trumpted :)

Congratulations for making it into 9rules. At least you had more of an idea than I did what 9rules was when I first joined. :P

Hey Man - It’s because you made it that I found your site. I was browsing around on it today and you are a worthy bearer of the 9rules badge. Way to go!

Congratulations on making it in! May your traffic severely increase. :)

@All: Thanks! I hope I live up to the 9rules badge. Do they ever revoke them? :)
@mrscrumley: Yeah, I’ve found some great blogs via 9rules members.

@stelmodad: I still don’t know how both of those happened. ;)
@Justin: I hope so! I’m thinking of installing Mint to make tracking easier.

Scott, welcome to 9rules! I made it into the previous round and have been very happy as a 9rules guy.

The group is a great resource for questions you may have so be sure to check out the forums one you are granted access.

Congrats man — nice work! :-)

Very nice! I forgot to submit my site, but first I need a design and constant content.

Congratulations on getting into 9rules, you have a great blog here.

Hi Scott,

Welcome to 9rules!

This is the first time I’ve browsed to your blog but it looks great and I’m sure you’ll live up to the high standards of 9rules. :)
9rules does actually revoke some blogs but not necessarily because the team or members dislike you. To my knowledge, some members have asked to be removed (personal reasons, etc). Other members haven’t updated their blogs in a very long time and eventually get pulled.

There’s a lot of discussion about revoking membership (and THOUSANDS of other topics) in our member-only forums, which Tyme will be letting you know about very soon.

Congratulations!!!!

Best Regards,
Nick

Congratulations! Welcome to 9rules! You definitely belong here. Definitely.

Thanks again! You all are too kind. I’ve been reading over the agreement, signing up for the forum, adding the badge, etc. I just have to choose a couple communities and I think I’m all set to begin.

The badge looks good!

16 Scott { 12.08.06 at 9:24 am }

It does look nice . . . and feels good, too! However, here at work it’s bonking my sidebar (shifting it down), so maybe it’s too wide? I use Firefox at home and sometimes forget to check IE. It could also be the Flickr feed. Our firewall blocks Flickr and the error message in that spot could be the culprit.

It’s probably the 9rules logo and the ASO logo.

18 Scott { 12.08.06 at 11:53 am }

You’re probably right. I’ll have to shrink them in Photoshop.

19 The Dance that Launched a Thousand Hits at Transformatum { 12.15.06 at 10:31 pm }

[...] Shortly after I was accepted into 9rules I decided to implement a new tracking system called Mint. Two days later I noticed a referrer from Ping Six. Linking to my comment, Tyme warned bloggers not to get caught up in statistics. Her point is well taken. A two sentence Aside about how Rob elfed me, posted the same day Mint went live, is at the top of the charts with 1,375 hits! Putting it into perspective, the home page is second at 533 hits. [...]

20 Time’s 2006 Person of the Year at Transformatum { 12.19.06 at 2:57 pm }

[...] Things are really taking off lately here at Transformatum. First 9rules and now the cover of Time. Where will this blog go next? Who knows, but let me humbly say that I could not have won this award without an audience. All of you had a helping hand in “seizing the reins of the global media, founding and framing the new digital democracy, [and] beating the pros at their own game.” I hereby nominate you, dear reader, as TIME’s Person of the Year for 2007. I do get that privilege as POtY, don’t I? [...]

Woo woo! Hot blowjob, Scott! LOL.

22 Scott { 05.13.07 at 10:28 pm }

Hehehehe…where’s that troll cap thingy? Oh yeah, I disabled it because the plugin added to the database strain. :) Oh well, I’ll just flag it as spam. :D
